Dizzy Coyote - 2012
Mixed-Media: Wood, Ball Bearings, Sheet Metal, Metal Handle, Computer, Wii Remote, and Custom Software

Dizzy Coyote
is a spinning platform affixed to a handheld base. This instrument uses a hacked Wii Remote affixed to the spinning platform, which measures the forces of acceleration as the velocity of spinning increases. This instrument uses accelerometer data to trigger and control the playback rate of audio samples of wind and beehives, as well as coyotes and wolves barking and howling. The playback rate and sample pitch are mapped to the rate of speed by which the spinning platform is cranked. This instrument also maps motion and button data to the MIDI control of synthesized bass tones that can be pitch bent, filtered, and modulated.
